The small village of Carradale is within easy walking distance.  There is a small shop at the harbour which sells a variety of goods and newspapers.  The Village Shop sells most foodstuffs, newspapers, bakes it's own bread and pastries and is also an off licence.  The Carradale Hotel serves meals in the bar and also a la carte meals in the restaurant.  There are also two guest houses in the village, the Ashbank and Dunvalanree, that will provide you with a good quality meal.

Carradale Bay is a long sandy beach, perfect for walking, with or without a dog, and collecting shells along the tide line.  The harbour is home to a small fishing fleet, and some evenings when they land their catch, you can buy fresh fish direct from the boats.  The local speciality is langoustine which are delicious.

There are three pony trekking centres, Carradale Pony Trekking is situated at Waterfoot, just outside  the village, with reduced rates for people staying at Lorneholme. There are countless beautiful walks and also the Kintyre Way which enables one to walk the whole length of the peninsular.
